The 1968 British Grand Prix took place at the Brands Hatch Circuit on July 20th. The Team Lotus Type 49, driven by Graham Hill, was one of the favorites for the race. Hill’s car, along with Oliver’s Lotus, claimed the front row of the grid in qualifying.

Unfortunately, Graham Hill had to retire on lap 26 due to a broken half-shaft. Jackie Oliver, driving the other Team Lotus Type 49, also retired on lap 46 with transmission problems. The race was eventually won by Jo Siffert in a Rob Walker-entered Team Lotus Type 49.
